The palmares of Cantine Colomba Bianca - the wine cooperative that operates in the province of Trapani with 2480 vigneron - is enriched with four gold medals: two come from the technical jury of the 31st edition of Mundus Vini, the International Grand Prix of Wine, two instead from the Berliner Wein Trophy, world wine competition sponsored by the OIV.

A triumph for “Cara Terra Rosso 2021” IGP Salemi – which receives gold in both competitions – the new green project that was born as a real dedication to the hills of Salemi, telling the sustainable production. A line “for and with” the territory: an unfiltered organic wine conceived with a process that minimizes the environmental impact. The wine had already received, immediately after its release, the double gold medal in the French guide Gilbert & Gaillard and then the 5 gold stars at the Wine Without Walls, the guide promoted by Vinitaly dedicated to certified organic wine and produced by companies adhering to sustainability protocols.

On the top step of the podium also “Resilience Perricone 2021” Doc Sicilia (gold at the Mundus Vini 2022), which is an authentic expression of a historical vine, almost forgotten, which returns forcefully in the Sicilian wine scene thanks to its strong and decisive character. An award-winning wine, which in just two vintages has brought home 18 awards, and that comes from 100% vineyards with at least 50 years of age, located in Valle del Belice.

In the medallist there is also Lavì Grillo, the Colomba Bianca Extra Dry sparkling wine – among the top labels and best sellers of the wine cooperative – produced from Grillo grapes and in perfect symbiosis with the territory from which it originates: a cuvée that comes from grapes harvested manually and sparkling according to the Charmat method. Last January Lavì Grillo also obtained the Gold Medal at Effervescents du Monde (the only Sicilian sparkling wine awarded): the competition that selects the best sparkling wines in the world and held in France.

These awards are added to the long collection of Colomba Bianca – which has reached 204 awards with 11 labels in the last six years – founded in 1970 and today among the most important Italian producers of organic grapes and wines, with 1,800 hectares of certified organic farming and a production capacity of over 14,000,000 liters of organic wine.

A reality in motion, open to the world and with solid roots in the earth and in the community. These competitions, counted among the most important in the world, are real international Oscars – underlines the president of Colomba Bianca Dino Taschetta – and allow us producers to have a constructive comparison. Moreover, through a blind evaluation by masters of wine and experts of the highest level, this moment represents a valid instrument of orientation towards the market and consumers. We are really proud: these medals go to the commitment and passion of those who are part of this great family. We have achieved important goals thanks to the drive given by the strong sense of belonging of our winemakers and the company team that is reflected in our wines and that is the engine of the development of Colomba Bianca».
