A roof of stars, wines made from grapes grown in the area, voices of local people and Jazz music. A roof of stars, wines made from grapes grown in the area, voices of local people and Jazz music. These elements that made San Lorenzo night in Salemi so special, on Tuesday, 10th August 2021, with the event organized by Cantine Colomba Bianca as part of the Calici di Stelle initiative promoted by the Wine Tourism Welcoming.

The event took place at the Norman-Swabian Castle of Salemi, in the heart of the Belìce Valley. At 7:00 p.m. Colomba Bianca wines started filling glasses. For the occasion, the company proposed the old vine Resilience wines, the Lavì Classic Method sparkling wines, Vitese organic wines, Mour semi-sparkling organic wine, everything accompanied by finger food of Sicilian tradition.

During the night, guests were invited to attend guided tours on the circular tower of the Castle: with the gaze turned upwards, visitors admired a sky never seen before thanks to the telescope of Giacomo Sammartano, amateur astronomer who came directly from Marsala to show and tell about the planets and constellations.

The program of the night also offered plenty of space to the exposition of Giannina Amico – “Murritìa”, a woman passionate about Salerno craftsmanship, who proposed entirely hand-made creations: typical Sicilian coffees, bands, baskets and typical objects.  In the inner rooms of the Castle, the artist from Partanna Vincenza Genna brought on show her paintings dedicated to the feminine universe. Besides, tradition was honoured by the exhibition of the “Giardinieri Salemitani”, Gardners of Salemi, who dressed in typical clothes of Salemi tradition and delivered love cards to people, along with other gifts.

In the Castle lobby, at 9:30 p.m. the scene was filled with jazz music offered by the Mauro Carpi Quintet who performed on stage.

It’s a special initiative that wants to be a symbol of return to normality without forgetting all the precautions for the sanitary emergency – said Dino Taschetta, CEO of Colomba Bianca. The event is most of all a celebration for the commitment of those who believe in the potential of this territory, that is why we tried to put together different expressions of it for a night that is traditionally experienced as a dreamlike atmosphere. The settings chosen as location speak of respect of the surrounding environment, and that is what Colomba Bianca does in producing its wines in an organic way”.

Galilei said “Il vino è un composto di umore e luce”- the wine is a mix of humour and light, and it is right under the shining trail of the falling starts, typical of the night of San Lorenzo, that the event  took place with great success, beyond expectations: the tickets went indeed sold out already 10 days before the occurrence.

Colomba Bianca will welcome wine lovers again next year, for Calici di Stelle 2020.
