«PUBLIC/PRIVATE, SUCCESSFUL MODEL TO RESTART MAJOR EVENTS»

SAN VITO LO CAPO – Fourteen exceptional events; 85 artists from all over Italy who took turns on the various stages set up for the festival; 45 dance masters (Lindy hop and Balboa) and international dancers; Over 5000 spectators who participated in the scheduled events, becoming infected by the style of the ’20s. This is the extraordinary balance of over a month and a half of “Colomba Bianca Swing Festival”. The festival staged from 10 July to 4 September in San Vito Lo Capo, promoted by the City in collaboration with the Sicilian wine cooperative of president Dino Taschetta, has won over the Sicilian public. The vintage atmosphere, retro elegance, art, music and dances in one of the most evocative scenery of the island, between the Garden of Palazzo la Porta (seat of the City), Piazza Santuario and Piazza Carlo Barbera (ex Marinella), have cheered the summer of Trapani, accompanying them in a new world punctuated by a swing rhythm and the discovery of wines by Colomba Bianca.

The affluence has been of approximately 5000 participants – the commercial director of Colomba Bianca, Giuseppe Gambino has commented – the public has appreciated the presence of artists of international tenor, on all Gianluca Guidi and Lino Patruno, true living encyclopedia of the swing. The exhibition has seen represented the old and new levers, big and new proposals, the contagious enthusiasm of the protagonists has unleashed Trapani. In addition, the tastings organized by Colomba Bianca have made even more emotional this path linked to memory. The presence of the Mayor of San Vito Lo Capo and part of his Board, has strengthened even more the link between Colomba Bianca and the local administration. Thanks to the synergy between public and private it is possible to create winning events that serve as a flywheel for the territory. We believe that wine and music are like two lovers that complement each other. Strong of the success of this season we are already thinking about the third edition, the mayor has already expressed the desire to have Colomba Bianca as a partner of the event».

The artistic direction was entrusted to maestro Mauro Carpi, who managed to involve great names of Italian and international music and opened the stage at the Conservatory of music “Antonio Scontrino” Trapani and the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Arturo Toscanini” of Ribera. Many the musicians who have alternated – Carpi has commented – we have recorded thousands of presences and for the final evenings the sold out one. The balance is absolutely positive, the festival is becoming really important: the artists contact us to perform at the “Colomba Bianca Swing Festival”. Several groups participated, the largest of them being 27.

The concert of Gianluca Guidi has generated a real party. He is an extraordinary character, a show-man, he entertained the audience as only adults can do. I thank Colomba Bianca for the support, thanks to this wonderful Sicilian entrepreneurial reality that was just an idea has become reality. During the evenings, the Lino Patruno foundation has donated an award to the young Sicilian musician Gaetano Castiglia, from Lercara Friddi, town of Palermo and birthplace of Frank Sinatra’s parents, to highlight the work of young musicians who invest their time in retracing the tradition of jazz».
